Thulasi was rescued by police from the streets of Cochin along with her psychiatric mother and younger sister. She was provided with shelter at Valsalya Bhavan annexe. The authorities of the orphanage identified the inborn dance talents of Thulasi and enrolled her in a local dance learning centre named Cochin Arts and Communication. The cost for the dance sessions were met by the benefactors of Valsalya Bhavan Annexe. Later on, she joined Dharani Dance School, a leading dance school in Cochin.
After completion of Plus two, she joined Chennai Dance School for a 4 year diploma course in Bharatanatyam. She also pursued a distant Degree in Bachelor of commerce. Now Thulasi is working as a bharatanatyam instructor at Dharani Dance School in Cochin. Thulasi is also planning to start her own dance school in the future.
