Alukaran, now 49 years of age, was born in Kerala; due to family break up and extreme financial constraints, he landed up in Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan Orphanage at Palluruthy in 1974. This center took care of him and educated him. Here, he learnt about the lives of Sts. Don Bosco and Mother Teresa and dreamt of saving lives like them. He lived in the orphanage for about 10 years.

After many years, in 2000, he joined CHILDLINE as a volunteer and worked there for about 3 years. He was saddened by the pitiable state of children and destitutes living on the street. He resigned his job from CHILDLINE, and started rescuing people from the street and rehabilitate them in rehab centers across the district of Ernakulam. Many like-minded individuals joined hands and helped him set up his new mission.

So far, over the years Alukaran and his team rescued about 4000 people from the streets and deprived older men and women from families in the district. In the year 2018 he started a trust named Jeeva Karunya Bhavan for the rehabilitation of destitutes. Currently he provides shelter to 15 destitutes.

Alukaran mentioned that the learnings from Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan inspired him to become a life- saver for many destitutes on the street.
