DREAM Kochi team intervened in the case of a child who was 13yrs and with an acute substance addiction issue. The parents had contacted the teacher, who then referred the matter to our DREAM team. The parents had tried their best to protect the child from addiction, but he started to behave aggressively and showed extreme violent behaviour to the extent of going on a hunger strike. We talked with the child over the phone and visited the child at the house for creating a rapport. The DREAM project counselor interacted with the child and identified the need for medical aid and de-addiction. After a couple of days child was sent to Vimukthi Mission for the medical aid in general hospital, Muvaattupuzha. After the treatment the DREAM team visited the child for emotional guidance sessions. After the medical and counselling interventions, we were able to bring the child back to a normal life.
