Valsalya Bhavan was established in 1997 through “Valsalya” project as a joint venture of Cochin Corporation and Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan to rehabilitate girl children of sex workers, girls who were abandoned on streets, girl children of HIV positive patients, run away and rescued girls from bonded labour and other similar situations. Over the last 25 years, the center has provided shelter, education, holistic growth and rehabilitation to more than 3,000 orphaned, destitute and abandoned girls

The silver jubilee celebration of Valslya Bhavan was held at Don Bosco auditorium, Vaduthala, and was inaugurated by the Hon. Justice of High Court, Mr. Murali Purushothaman.  The function was presided over by Rev. Dr. Jose Koyickal, Provincial SDB, Bangalore. Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan Executive Director, Fr. P D Thomas welcomed the gathering. Ernakulam Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairperson Mr. KK Shaju delivered the keynote address. Cochin Corporation Councillors, Mr. V.A. Sreejith (Chairperson Education Standing Committee) Ms. Sheeba Lal (Chairperson, Welfare Standing Committee) Mr. Henry Austin, Mr. Sakir, Fr. Francis John and Sr. Reetha DHM spoke at the occasion and appreciated the work of Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan. A cultural extravaganza followed after the public meeting
