Ten inmates from Don Bosco orphanage in Cochin strike a different tune with the performance of chenda a traditional musical instrument on their ‘arangettam’, stage debut on 28th February 2021 in the presence of the children and staff.
Noted percussionist Mr. Saneesh Palluruthy, who has a large number of disciples in Kerala has trained the selected inmates in Singari Melam and prepared them for the debut. In the words of Mr. Saneesh “The interest shown by the boys to learn the Chenda really surprised me. They picked up the basic lessons faster than any of my other students”. The chenda training is organized with the support of KPMG global services under their CSR initiative.
