Childrens Day

“ Children are our treasure and they need to be treated as such. I am happy that Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan does just that”, said commodore Sanjeev Dureja , the director of NIAT, Cochin who was the chief guest of the day. He was addressing about 800 children gathered at the spacious grounds of Sneha Bhavan for their annual Children’s Day celebrations on Nov.8,2014. The children said the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi for peace in keeping with the theme “ Peace is our birthright”. It was followed by a pledge to be messengers of peace, following the example of Nobel laureate Malala, in a world torn asunder by divisive and destructive forces.
Children were treated to the excitement of 20 plus chance games spread out in 20 stalls. Everyone got prizes. Biriyani packets provided by the Casino Hotel, ‘Mango time” from Elanjikal Group, gifts from Ernakulam Round Table 214 added joy to the day’s events. Cultural programme by the children was ecstatic indeed. At the end of the day all the children were beaming with joy as they went home carrying their gift packets and the special prizes they won.
Community involvement in organizing the event is worth mentioning. The presence of the mayor of Cochin, the deputy mayor and other members of the Council of Cochin Corporation added special solemnity to the event.
